Staci's Marathon!!

On Oct 7 I completed my first marathon with my good friend and running buddy Shelley! The marathon we decided to do was in Portland, or because it is supposed to be an easy one for first timers. We drove over there Saturday morning and first thing we did was pick up our race information. After that we found our hotel and got everything set our for the race. Once Shelley and I were ready Kyle found us an Italian restaurant for dinner and it was delicious! After that it was back home and to bed for we had a big day to get rested for!

The picture turned out a little blurry, but there is kyle and I and Shelley, mike and Shelley's dad who was able to come with us.

Our morning started at about 430 when we got up to start getting hydrated. Then we ate breakfast and headed down to the race!

There is my faithful husband ready to cheer me on from the start!!

Here is Shelley and me, ready to run!! :-)
There are so many runners that we are split into different groups and start at different times so here we are heading to the starting line for our turn to start!

There were certain parts of the race where spectators could not view us so after mile 5 we didn't get to see our husbands till about mile 20 and it was sure fun to see them but it was only for about 1 second because we had to keep running!
Here we are at the end with our medals!! We made it all in one piece and feeling pretty great!( a little tired :-) We were very fortunate that we finished with no body or muscle complications!

Me with my proud husband!
Afterwards I took a nice hot shower and a nice long nap while kyle enjoyed a little bit of golfing and by the time he got back I was feeling pretty good an we out and got some pizza!
The following morning kyle took me to a park that had some beautiful and very tall trees and we walked around the park for a few minutes.

After that we went to downtown Portland to try some voodoo doughnuts and they were pretty yummy.
After that our little adventure was over and we had to head back home, we sure had a lot of fun and I am grateful to my friend Shelley for training for this marathon together and for my husband and his support for helping me to finish a marathon!
